Hilda “Madequor” Tetteh-Ocloo, Pre-Licensed Counselor Associate

Practicing Since: 2018

Madequor approaches therapy from a systemic lens that looks at individuals, couples, and families within the context of all the systems that influence them (family, spirituality, education, etc.). She fosters healing and empowers her clients to achieve their goals through empathy, understanding, and accountability. As a therapist, Madequor strives to make everyone she works with feel safe, seen, valued, and respected.

Madequor views mental health as a result of confusion. When there’s confusion in life or relationships it can negatively impact a person’s perception of themselves, others, God, the world, and the future. The

therapeutic process is a way to bring clarity and find ways to decrease dysfunction in a person’s life and

how they relate to themselves, others, and God in a way that offers a more hopeful perspective of the future. As an attachment and process-oriented based therapist, Madequor looks at family of origin dynamics and relational patterns to help clients get to the root of their problems.

During her time pursuing her Master’s degree in Family Therapy, social justice and cultural responsiveness was a major aspect of her educational training and guides her work as a clinician to this day. She enjoys deeper trauma and healing work. Madequor also likes to explore the intersectionality of her client’s identities and enjoys empowering them to shift cultural paradigms that perpetuate violence in minority communities.

Born in Ghana and raised in North Carolina, Madequor completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in African, African American, and Diaspora Studies. And after, Madequor obtained her Master’s degree in Family Therapy from Drexel University. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her friends and family, writing spoken word, volunteering in her community, and pretending to be a dancer (watching real dancers and imitating them).

Hilda “Madequor” Tetteh-Ocloo is under the clinical supervision of Bruce Weatherly, Psychologist (#PS005590L).
