Elaina Kossoy, LGPC

Practicing Since: 2023

As a counselor, Elaina strives to use a client centered approach to create a warm and safe environment for her clients. She has experience working with a variety of different populations and age groups in both outpatient mental health clinic settings and private practice settings.

Specializing in anxiety, life transitions, college students, and adult children of emotionally immature parents, Elaina also has particular interests in assisting children and adults experiencing chronic illness and/or medical trauma.

Her counseling philosophy begins with meeting her clients where they are. Elaina believes that every client is unique, and she approaches each client with the belief that every person is different, and that not all people respond to the same interventions equally. She believes that by tailoring her approach to each person, they are more willing and able to engage in therapeutic services. Elaina’s preferred theoretical approach is Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy based approaches. These approaches allow clients to increase outer awareness and self-awareness, which can lead to better self-acceptance and self-compassion.

Elaina graduated with her Master’s degree in 2023 and was inducted into the Alpha Chi Honors Society in February of that year.

In her free time, Elaina enjoys spending time with her family. She has two dogs and a cat, and two nephews who are her world.
