Alexandra Codjoe, LMSW
Practicing since: 2021
Alexandra creates a shame-free, neurodiverse and gender-affirming space for individuals experiencing transitional adjustments, loss and other challenges. Alexandra works with clients from a variety of backgrounds, including but not limited to those with biracial, multiracial, and queer identities, as well as individuals navigating complex family dynamics, trauma or becoming a survivor of violence.
Alexandra’s work is grounded in a compassionate understating of the unique struggles these clients face, including the sense of fragmentation or disconnection from parts of their identity while showing up in a world marked by systemic and structural injustices. The journey of self-realization can come with unanticipated challenges and harm, including exposure to different forms of abuse in relationships and family estrangement. Alexandra helps clients heal through rediscovering their strengths in their identity, rebuild self-esteem, and learn to set emotional boundaries, just to name a few. Clients will have the opportunity to embrace the full tapestry of their identity, finding strength in the parts of themselves that may have been denied or silenced. Through these sessions, clients will find a greater sense of belonging, community building, and long due validation while healing and honoring the wisdom of unique backgrounds and lived experiences.
Alexandra is a biracial and multicultural therapist who has lived in different parts of the world and speaks several languages, including Spanish. In her free time, she rides horses and takes trips on her motorbike.
Alexandra is licensed in the state of Maryland (Lic #32264) and is under the clinical supervision of Krystle Tinsley, LCSW-C (Lic # 23134).
