G. Donald Cribbs, LPC, NCC
Practicing Since: 2017
Donald enjoys working alongside both individuals and couples, children and adults, and considers co-journeying with clients a humbling privilege. Donald gathers and shares resources, trusting the client to determine what works best, as the client is their own expert. He uses a variety of evidenced-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Formational Prayer, and Trauma-Informed Care among others to support the unique needs of his clients.
It is Donald’s goal to meet the client where he, she, or they are at, and from that place, identify strengths, talents, assets, resources, and tools from which to develop and build a pathway to healing and wholeness. Donald incorporates resiliency and mindfulness tools to facilitate and support such growth in his clients.
Donald has worked for the past two years as a drug and alcohol counselor at an outpatient clinic providing individual and group counseling to patients struggling with active substance use disorders and has recently completed his professional counselor licensure (LPC) which has been approved by the PA State Board. Prior to working with clients as a counselor, he worked in a community mental health organization, and at times in an inpatient setting with adults and children. He is a former teacher and has worked with children for the past 20 years.
Donald enjoys music, theater, art, and writing (both fiction and poetry) as outlets for self-care and encourages his clients to practice self-care by developing their own areas of interest as well.
Donald has a passion and a focus in the area of trauma recovery and is an author and advocate for change in this area of treatment. He is a proud member of the Bristlecone Project. His wife and four boys fill his life with love, meaning, and purpose along with his personal relationship with God which has been ongoing for more than 40 years.
Donald is licensed in the state of Pennsylvania (#PC011553).
