Nikki Hughes, LCMHC, LCAS

Practicing Since: 2002

Nikki received her Master of Arts in Community Counseling with a dual emphasis in Addictions and Marriage and Family Therapy from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC in 2002. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Services from Montreat College in Montreat, NC in 1998.

Nikki spent much of her career as a therapist working at an inpatient psychiatric hospital that specializes in the treatment of those diagnosed with mental health disorders and substance abuse. Her recent work has focused heavily on the simultaneous treatment of substance abuse and recovery from trauma. Nikki has also worked with couples and families working to rebuild their marriages and families that have been affected by mental illness and addiction.

Nikki’s clinical work draws heavily from cognitive behavioral and reality therapies, and focuses on understanding the story of the person sitting in front of her in order to develop a treatment plan. Nikki is a strong believer in the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, and that He loves to enter our messy and broken lives to bring about healing to us and our relationships. Nikki’s view of Christian counseling is that it provides the opportunity to integrate a biblical framework and understanding of the world with effective, compassionate, and evidence based treatment.

Nikki is licensed in the state of North Carolina #5218, and #LCAS-1716.
